Fear in the "old people's neighborhood" after a series of murders of seniors. People complain about the lack of cameras
Four women of about the same age. All killed in a similar way, within a week and a half. The first murder took place on the night of February 16-17 on Franciszkańska Street in the city center. An 80-year-old pensioner was suffocated with a pillow.
But as "TVN Warszawa" unofficially learned, the murderers attacked a senior citizen on the same day at ul. Pruszkowska in Ochota. And just a few days later, on February 23, another body was discovered – that of an 89-year-old senior citizen at ul. Księcia Trojdena 5.
The next day, this time on Wąwozowa Street in Ursynów, another victim was attacked. She was 73 years old. According to our information, an unknown man appeared in the area at 7:16 p.m. At least that's what the monitoring shows. First, he sat in the car for an hour (the car had a Polish license plate), then he got out, took a bag with him and headed towards the apartment where the murder took place. The attacker was detained by the police when he tried to escape through the window. Who called the police? The prosecutor's office does not want to reveal that at the moment.
Murders of seniors in WarsawWe went to the place where two murders took place: the first and the third. Both the block on Trojdena Street and on Pruszkowska Street are part of the famous Rakowiec housing estate, which was built in the 1960s and designed by outstanding architects, including Zofia and Oskar Hansen. It is home to about three thousand residents, including many seniors who moved here over half a century ago.
One of the women was murdered on February 16 on Pruszkowska Street, and the other on February 23 in a block of flats located just 500 meters away, at 5 Księcia Trojdena Street.
– There are many elderly people among our clients. It is mainly elderly women who come to us – says Mrs. Marta, the manager of the local grocery store. She admits that the residents do not feel safe here, because there is no monitoring on the estate. – And now everyone is in great fear – she emphasizes.
Serial killer in WarsawIt is certain that the murdered seniors also shopped in her shop, but Mrs. Marta does not know which women exactly. On the other hand, the elderly woman we met on the estate remembers the victim living in the block on Trojdena well. "I live in the building next door," she tells us. And she admits that she herself was robbed four years ago.
So far, two people have been detained: an approximately 45-year-old Pole and (according to unofficial media reports) a Ukrainian citizen.
